It was a mixed bag of new titles on the GWW’s writers radar. Here’s what they thought about the big books from this week:

Clear #1
ComiXology

Written by: Scott Snyder
Art/Colors by: Francis Manapul
Letters by: AndWorld Design

Scott Snyder’s brilliant storytelling is on full display in Clear #1. With vibes of “The Maltese Falcon,” Snyder’s newest Comixology release is a throwback noir style mystery set in the not too distant future.

What if “filters” were something more than just making your photographs look snazzy? What if you could filter reality? This is what Snyder explores in Clear #1, along with the side effects of escapism. Add in a protagonist with a mysterious past and a captivating mystery, and you have all the ingredients for a can’t miss first issue.  Joseph GilmoreCLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

Mazebook #2
Dark Horse Comics

WRITTEN/ART BY: JEFF LEMIRE

Will takes a trip to the past in Jeff Lemire’s Mazebook #2. In looking to the past, in his ex-wife, he’s hoping he can find the answers to the questions haunting him.

Will received a call, or thinks he did anyways. A call from his daughter, a daughter he can’t remember. Will’s daughter has been gone for 10 years.    — Emmetdavis7 CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

No ONe Left To Fight II #1
Dark Horse Comics

WRITTEN BY: AUBREY SITTERSON
PENCILS BY: FICO OSSIO
COLORS BY: RACIEL AVILA
LETTERS BY: TAYLOR ESPOSITO

Vale, Timor and Krysta were long overdue for a second arc at Dark Horse Comics. If nothing else, Vale and Timor had a few things to settle, which Aubrey Sitterson addresses pretty much right away in No One Left To Fight II #1. Though, I have a hard time imagining this issue will mark the end of their back-and-forth.  — Nick Friar CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

STAR TREK: THE MIRROR WAR #1
IDW Publishing

Written BY: SCOTT AND DAVID TIPTON
ART BY: GAVIN SMITH
COLORS BY: CHARLIE KIRCHOFF
LETTERS BY: NEIL UYETAKE

Picard and the team of the ISS Enterprise are back in action in Star Trek The Mirror War #1. If you have read the first issue meaning issue #0 you’ll find yourself right at home as the story continues. From an ill-fated raid attempt to landing in some hot water back on earth. Picard finds himself on a new mission to a ship-building planet called Faundori, however, it will not be an easy task as the planet is located deep within the Klingon-Cardassian territory.Jim CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

ET-ER #1
AWA/Upshot Studios

Written by: Jeff McComsey
Art by: Javier Pulido
Letters by: Dezi Sienty

AWA Studios’ newest title ET-ER is as offbeat as its title would imply. However, in its debut issue, ET-ER #1 left a bit to be desired. While I am not sure if this will be an anthology series or not, the premise of the series is intriguing, but this first issue did fall short of the remarkably high standards set by AWA. While the initial story titled “Walk Ins” was fun, fascinating and well written, it was the art that was unfortunately its glaring weak spot. — Joseph Gilmore

Score: 7
