DC Comics had a few notable first issues. The Eltarian War rages on at BOOM! Studios. King Spawn keeps getting better, and that still doesn’t cover everything from this week in comics! Here’s what GWW’s writers thought about the big books from this week:
WONDER WOMAN: EVOLUTION #1
DC Comics
WRITTEN BY: STEPHANIE PHILLIPS
PENCILS BY: MIKE HAWTHORNE
INKS BY: ADRIANO DI BENEDETTO
COLORS BY: JORDIE BELLAIRE
LETTERS BY: TOM NAPOLITANO
Phillips magnificently sets up Diana’s trial for humanity. From the beginning, we see the villain of this issue paralleled with Diana. She makes Diana question herself. What is her purpose for being a hero? What makes her better than these villains? Does she show that she’s better through her actions, or do we only see it in her motivations? Wonder Woman is trying to steel herself throughout the entire issue, but once she meets up with a certain friend, we see her walls come down. As Diana’s walls come down, I’m excited to see if there will even be any left! — friendlynbhdbi … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

Robins #1
DC Comics
WRITTEN BY: TIM SEELEY
ART BY: BALDEMAR RIVAS
COLORS BY: ROMULO FAJARDO JR.
LETTERS BY: STEVE WANDS
From the jump, I loved the concept for Robins. All of Batman’s former Robins facing someone who claims to have also been Robin? Not to mention, this alleged ex-Robin claims to have been the original? Sounds like a small-scale Court of Owls concept — someone who’s always existed, yet no one knows about. — Nick Friar … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

THE NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #6
DC Comics
Written by: James Tynion IV
Art by: Alvaro Martinez Bueno
Colors by: Jordie Bellaire
Letters by: Andworld Design
What is it they say? Absence makes the heart grow fonder? Well we are about to find out how true that is. We’ll now have to wait six months for Nice House On The Lake to return, and I’ve got to say, it’s going to be hard — but maybe not as hard as I once thought. — Joseph Gilmore … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

King Spawn #4
IMAGE COMICS
WRITTEN BY: SEAN LEWIS WITH TODD MCFARLANE
ART BY: JAVIER FERNANDEZ
COLORS BY: FCO PLASCENCIA
LETTERS BY: ANDWORLD DESIGN
Throughout the first three issues of King Spawn, I’ve wondered in the back of my mind about where this story takes place in the greater story of Spawn. It’s never taken away from King Spawn’s story, but the two appeared to be running parallel.
King Spawn #4 was the first issue where I didn’t think that for one second during my reading, which should be all you need to know. While… — Nick Friar … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

NOT ALL ROBOTS #4
AWA/Upshot Studios
WRITTEN BY: MARK RUSSELL
ART BY: MIKE DIODATO
Without having seen how this series ends yet, this series has the making of one that will be well regarded, but an issue too long. Had the events of Not All Robots #4 taken place in the issue prior, this series would still be moving at a perfect pace. This issue continues to build on the anxiety of humanity while pushing the robots to the brink. — Nick Friar … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

LETTERS BY: ED DUKESHIRE
Both Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers have slowly been building to the next great MMPR event from BOOM, The Eltarian War. Power Rangers #13 is the second issue of the event, the first under this title. Things are off to a great start. — Nick Friar … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

NOT ALL ROBOTS #4
Titan Comics
Written by: Charles Ardai
Art by: Ang Hor Kheng
Colors by: Asifur Rahman
Letters by: David leach
Gun Honey #3 picks up exactly where you would expect, with the lovely Miss Tan in hot water. After her successful last mission (yes, it did not work out the way it should have, but she did finish the assignment the client contracted her for) Joanna is back in front of the hard-as-nails self-proclaimed iron-maiden of the government. Yes, that lovely lady that looks like someone’s granny but probably isn’t. — Jim … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW
